Data Recovery Wizard

The Data Recovery Wizard makes file recovery easier and quicker. It helps you specify data recovery parameters when recovering files and folders.

After you have scanned the drive and located your deleted files, you can view them in the Recovery Explorer or Unbound Items view. Select one or several items you want to recover and start the Recovery Wizard by doing one of the following:

Click Recover on the Toolbar
From the File menu, select the Recover option

Note:
There is another way to start this wizard after the Advanced Search Wizard finds deleted data. Choose items to recover and click Next.
When the Data Recovery Wizard starts for the first time, the first screen describes the process. Clear the Show this dialog next time? check box to avoid seeing this screen the next time you run this wizard.

To run the wizard, follow the steps below:

Recovery Options - A Destination Path appears by default. Use this path or enter another path manually. You can also click Browse and navigate to a destination path using the standard Windows dialog.
- If you selected a file or folder to be recovered, the original file name is suggested to you by default. You can change the file name. You can also skip the file name altogether, and enter only the target or destination path. If you do not specify the file name, the original file name will be used.
- Select or clear check boxes for other recovery options on this wizard page.

Note Regarding Recovery to the Same Drive::

We strongly recommend that you DO NOT recover data to the same drive where the original deleted files are located. If you do this, there is a chance that the process of writing the recovered files may overwrite the deleted files. As a result, the future attempts to recover these deleted files will be impossible. That is why this check box is CLEARED by default. If you have only one logical drive, we recommend that you map to a network drive (if you are on a network), or that you plug in a USB removable drive, or install a spare hard drive (if you have one). Select this check box only if you have no other logical drives accessible.

Confirm Recovery Options - View and confirm all options specified for the recovery process.
- To correct any options, click Back and make corrections.
- Click Recover! to start the data recovery process.
Recovery is in progress - This screen shows the progress of the recovery.
- You can stop the process at any time by clicking Stop!
- When the process is complete, a confirmation message appears.
At the end of the process, you have two options:
- Click Browse Destination Folder to go directly to the folder that contains your recovered files.
- Click Finish to close the wizard.
