Data Recovery Software - Advanced Search Wizard
This wizard is designed to help you find your lost data. It consists of five steps, during which you can specify different search criteria.
After you have specified at least one search parameter, you can skip all other steps and click Search! to start the search process. Contextual help is available during every step explaining the options and giving you examples. Just click Help at bottom of the screen.
Note:
When the Advanced Search Wizard starts for the first time, the first screen describes the process. Clear the Show this dialog next time? check box to avoid seeing this screen the next time you do an Advanced Search.
To run the wizard, follow the steps below:
- General Criteria - Enter general search criteria, as described below:
- Search In: - The selected logical devices appear here.
- Find what: - Enter text or numbers or specify a search pattern for the utility to search for. Alternatively, select a search pattern from the drop-down list.
- File Type: - Select a file type to look for from the drop-down list.
- Recursive search in subdirectories - Select this check box to explore through all subdirectories in each folder. Clear the check box to search only the root folder.
- Case sensitive search - Select this check box to match file names with the same upper-case or lower-case letters.
- Search among deleted only - Find files that have been lost.
- Search among existing only - Identify damaged files that are still visible to Windows Explorer.
- Next - Advance to the next step for more options.
- Search! - Click to skip to step 5.
- Date Criteria - Specify a date range for the lost or deleted files (if known).
- Date Type: - Check for the Accessed (Deleted), Created or Modified date of the file.
- Date Range: - Choose one of the radio buttons to narrow the search results to the specified dates.
- Next - Advance to the next step for more options.
- Search! - Click to skip to step 5.
- File Size Criteria - Specify the file size range (if known).
- Next - Advance to the next step for more options.
- Search! - Click to skip to step 5.
- File Attributes Criteria - Specify file attribute (if known) such as Read Only - to narrow the search results.
- Search! - Click to advance to step 5.
- Confirm Search Criteria - Use this window to confirm all search criteria. Click Search! to start the search process.
- Wait while the search is in progress. You can stop the search at anytime and browse through the results found up to that point.
Search Results - After the search process is complete, a new view is opened to display all the files and folders found that match your search criteria.
You can review and sort the results, preview and copy or recover files or folders as needed. You can mark several files and folders and perform operations such as data recovery on the group.
